Background 

Caven grew up in Eastern Oregon surrounded by agriculture.  He attended BMCC for a degree in diesel and heavy equipment technology.  He later attended the University of Idaho for a B.S. in Geology.  His graduate studies at the University of Idaho were in soil physics.

Skills and Expertise

Soil sensors, MET sensors, field sampling and equipment.

Role in the CAF-LTAR

To support research by NSAR and assist with collaboration between USDA and research universities.
